A non-Christmas card at last

Hello all, I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and received lots of lovely pressies. I got some new craft stash i.e. rectangle nesties, a couple of Penny Black stamps and some more Promarkers, think I just about have the whole set of those now. I just haven't had the time over Christmas to get any crafting done but tonight I managed a card. I have been back to work this week and have to go in tomorrow also which is a pain, I would much rather be at home crafting than in the office. I'm not very keen on New Year so I shall be seeing the New Year in at home tomorrow night with my family. I then go back to work on Monday but at least I have a long weekend.

Anyway, better be off to bed soon, early alarm in the morning. Hope you like the card I have made. The elements are:

Hanglar Stanglar image coloured with Promarkers.
Papers by Fresh Print and K&Company
Flowers - Prima
Charm - Creative Charms
Sentiment - Funkyfairys
Swiss Dots Embossing Folder
Scalloped circle nestie to mount the sentiment onto

All comments very welcome.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Well I just wanted to pop on to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I still have to make my mum and dad's card today and a couple of money wallets for the kids and wrap presents, I am going to be very busy as I suspect everyone else is too.

My first year of crafting is coming to an end and I think I have come a long way in that time. However I hope to improve over the course of the next year. My dream would be to become a DT member so fingers crossed if someone thinks my crafting is good enough I may get there one day.

I hope you all have a wonderful time and I hope you all receive everything you have wished for.

Sketch Saturday Challenge Card - #30

I have finally got around to make a card that is not Christmas related...didn't think I would manage it, thought I would get withdrawal symptoms from all things glittery lol. Still have added a little bling though.

I waited ages for this stamp to come back into stock at Funky Kits and finally got my hands on one, I have seen so many beautiful cards made with this stamp I just hope I have done it justice.

Papers - Dream Street Papers
Image - Daisy
Image coloured with Promarkers
Flowers - Prima and Felt flower from stash
Buttons from stash
Liquid Pearls
I have also used Glossy Accents to parts of the stamped image
Brad by Stemma
Sentiment - computer generated

Hope you like the card. All comments very much appreciated.

Thanks for looking.

Merry Christmas to you all.

Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 41

Just a quick post this evening. Life is totally hectic at the moment as it is for about 99% of the population now as Christmas is soooo close. I made this card tonight using my new Sugar Nellie "Snowflake" stamp. I love this stamp, it is so gorgeous. I probably won't get the opportunity to use it anymore until late next year now that Christmas is so close.

Papers - DCWV - Rose Tinted Christmas
Image coloured with Promarkers
Sentiment generated on my laptop
Bazill Bling
Plenty of glitter
I also used my Cuttlebug to emboss one strip of the Bazill Bling
Buttons from stash

I made this card for a fellow Docrafter. She too loves making Christmas cards as I do and we were both saying how it felt strange that Christmas would soon be over and there would be no more Christmas cards to make. I think you can go totally crazy with Christmas cards, especially with the glitter lol. This card also doubles as my entry to this week's Cute Card Thursday challenge which has an open theme.

Anyhoo I have so much to do and must get off to bed now, early start in the morning and one of my bosses is taking me to lunch tomorrow so I am looking forward to that. I have had a great day today, one of the solicitors where I work bought all us secretaries a scratchcard each and I won £40. Wow, I couldn't believe it, I have only ever won £1/£2 on a scratchcard before. More money to spend on craft essentials lol.

I hope you are all coping with the Christmas rush and have your cards made and sent and your pressies all wrapped. We will all be able to breath a sigh of relief very soon and enjoy christmas with our families.

Hope you like the card. All comments welcome as usual.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Sketch Saturday Challenge Card - #29

Hello everyone. Well it's been a good few days since I last posted but everything is so hectic at the moment what with Christmas just around the corner. I've just come back from doing a little bit of christmas shopping with my mum, I must say the shops weren't actually that bad but didn't have enough time to finish it off mind. I have cards to write and post, christmas pressies to wrap...oh my god I don't know how I am going to get it all done but I suppose everyone is more or less in the same position so I shouldn't moan.

I have managed to find some time to craft and so have decided to enter the Sketch Saturday challenge again this week.

Papers - Christmas Frost and I Believe Swirls both by Adornit.
Stamp - Sugar Nellie - Snowflake
Stamp coloured with Promarkers
Martha Stewart Doily Lace Punch used to create scalloped edges
Funkyfairys Sentiment
Cuttlebug Snowflakes
Liquid Pearls
Glitter and Glossy Accents

When I saw this image at Funky Kits I just had to have it along with a few other stamps of course, I am well and truly a stamp addict lol.

Thanks for looking and I hope you like the card.

I am loving making these challenge cards, serves another purpose also, I get my christmas cards done at the same time, so much more enjoyable. This is another Penny Black stamp that I bought last weekend, I want all of these stamps, I must have them lol. No I am trying to keep a tight rein on my purse at the moment, I am buying stamps like they are going out of fashion.

The stamp is called "Catching the star"
Coloured with Letraset Promarkers
Papers are by Three bugs in a rug
Ribbon by ki memories
Stemma Brads
Sentiment from Funky Fairys

Hope you like the card and thank you very much for looking. All comments welcome.

Sketch Saturday Challenge Card - #28

It's that time again, time for another challenge. I love this challenge because of the sketches that you have to follow, they are great and it's lovely to see everyone else's interpretations of the sketch. For this challenge I have used a hÄnglar & stÄnglar image which I adore. I coloured it as usual with Promarkers and have added some Glossy Accents to the image also. For the card I used pink pearlescent card which I have put through the Cuttlebug to give it some lift. The paper on the bottom half of the card is by ki memories and is called Secret Santa. The sentiment is a rub on and the snowflakes are Cuttlebug snowflakes and I have added gems to the centres. The snowflake ribbon is by ki memories also.

Hope you like the card.

A very pink Birthday

Just a quick post this evening. This afternoon we went for our team christmas meal. We had booked Smollensky's in the Strand. Lovely food but it meant getting home late from work and I just had to finish this card for tomorrow. I am so tired now I just have time for a quick cuppa and then off to bed.

I was asked to make this card by a lady who I work with. The brief was anything with a fairy, or a princess, pink pink pink or sparkly. Is this pink enough lol. I think a 4 year old may like this don't you...I sure hope so.
Flocked spotted paper by Doodlebug
Bazzil Bling Paper
Image by Lili of the Valley - Sparkle Fairy
Image coloured with
Liquid Pearls
Nestabilities Circle and Scalloped Circle
Martha Stewart Doily Lace Punch
The letters and number are by Making Memories. They were white but I coloured them pink with my Promarkers.
Sentiment generated on my laptop

Thanks for looking. Hopefully will have more to add to my gallery over the weekend.

I've been tagged......twice!!

I have been tagged twice in the last few days and have to provide 7 weird and wonderful facts about me and 7 interesting facts about me. Thanks goes to Erin and Michele for tagging me. I will have a ponder and come back with my facts if that is ok. This could take some time.

Cute Card Thursday Challenge 38 Card

I couldn't resist making a card for this challenge because I love lilac and the brief was to make a lilac card. Tilda image coloured with Promarkers. Papers from Funky Fairys. Prima Flowers. Buttons from stash. Used my nesties to the cut the circle/scalloped circle and added Liquid Pearls to the edge. Sentiment is computer generated. Just look at Tilda's sparkly skates, aren't they great! I also used my new Martha Stewart doily punch cos I think it gives a lovely effect.

Thanks for looking and wish me luck.

70th Birthday

Finished a card off this evening that I started last week. A lady at work asked me to make this card for her mum who is going to be 70 on 5 December. I am quite happy with the result although I did struggle at the start. The lady in question likes flowers so decided to make that the centre of the card. Swiss Dots always looks lovely I think so I had to use that folder. My nesties are being used all the time at the moment and I can't wait to get my hands on my new rectangle nesties that my parents have bought me for christmas. Image is from PC Crafter. The patterned paper is Laura Ashley. Liquid Pearls also added around the nesties.

Thanks for looking.

Sketch Saturday Challenge Card - #27

Another day another challenge card and this time it is the Sketch Saturday challenge. Sometimes I spend ages trying to think of a layout for a card so with this challenge it is ideal because they supply you with a sketch to follow, much easier for me. The image is by Penny Black and called "You make me blush", I am absolutely loving these Penny Black stamps at the moment. I cannot remember where the paper is from now, I have had this for a few months. The image is coloured with Promarkers. I have used my Cuttlebug on the mirri card and the sentiment is from Funky Fairies which I used along with my nesties. I have covered the coloured stamped image with Glossy Accents a la Natalie. I have also added a touch of blue Liquid Pearls to act as lookalike brads.

Hope you like the card and thank you for looking.

Penny Black Challenge - Week 25

I am entering this challenge again this week because the stamps are soooo cute!! The brief this week is to use no patterned paper so instead I have used my little Cuttlebug to give a bit of lift to the Bazzil Bling that I have used in the background. I bought the stamp today which is called "Xmas Pilgrims", I've had my eye on it for ages so I rushed off out this afternoon to get it. I coloured the image using my trusty Promarkers. The snowflakes were also produced on my little Cuttlebug and the sentiment is just one I thought of and produced on my laptop. I also used some Liquid Pearls to give the red brad effect look but they did go a bit wonky but that's fine. I've also added my usual touch of glitter to some elements of the stamp.

Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. Good luck to everyone else who enters the challenge this week.

I got another one

I would just like to say a big thank you to Sarah, Denise and Michele for giving me this award. I am not going to pass this award on simply because it seems everyone has received this one lately but I would like to give it to everyone who follows my blog and visits me from time to time and those people whose blog I follow. Your blogs provide me with lots of inspiration when I am very much in need.

The wording that goes along with the award is:

'This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY- nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement . Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to 8 bloggers who may then pass it on.'

New Baby

What terrible weather we have had today. No snow, wish we had, I woke up to pouring rain this morning. My dad said that the cars were totally iced over earlier this morning like a sheet of ice had been put around the cars.

Because it has been so cold today I have been quite lazy but I did finish this card that I started to make last night. I was asked to make this card by a lady who I work with, her sister is due to give birth to a little boy at the beginning of December..what an exciting time. I love the Belly Button Babies so I used this image that I got from PC Crafter. It gave me another opportunity to use my lovely nesties. The papers are from DCWV and are called "Nanas Nursery" Baby Boy. I printed the sentiments off myself on my PC. I also dotted liquid pearls around the edge of the scalloped nesty. I am really pleased with this card, the photo doesn't do it justice at all

Thanks for looking.

Christmas Bubble Tree

I have seen a couple of people use this stamp and just had to have it. It is by Woodware and I bought mine from Crafts U Love. Now you know how I love my glitter so I just went mad with this. Not your conventional christmas colours but I think most of my cards this year have been anything but christmas colours. I used stickles for the bubbles and coloured the background of the tree with Twinkling H20's. Quite a simple card really but I think it looks quite sweet. Oh and I used my lovely nesties and my new Martha Stewart doily punch too.

Hope you like it.

Funky Christmas - Penny Black Challenge

Yet another challenge card, this time for the Penny Black Challenge. The brief is to stay away from the usual christmas colours that we all use. I actually made this card a few weeks back but I think it fits the brief perfectly so why not enter it.

Papers - Papermania "Naughty and Nice Christmas"

Stamp - Penny Black "Thinking of You"

Image coloured using Letraset Promarkers

Cuttlebug Snowflake

Thanks for looking.

Blue Bazill Bling matted and layered onto white card

Papers - Dovecraft "Winter Wonderland"

Image - Magnolia Snow Flurry Tilda

Image coloured with Promarkers

I also used my Nestabilities and Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder and of course added the usual touch of glitter to various parts of card.

November Friendship Swap

Busy evening tonight, two cards made which is good for me lol, what a slowcoach I am. I needed to make this card for the November Friendship Swap. I received my card on Friday from my swap partner so wanted to get this posted off to her first thing on Monday morning.

The Tilda image is supposed to be a Christmas one but I have decided to use it as a general card image on this occasion. I coloured the image using Letraset Promarkers. The papers I downloaded from Shabby Princess (free papers at that!). Prima flowers and buttons from stash. I also used my new Sizzix swirly die which I think is lovely and I also used my lovely nesties again. I think I need to buy the other nestie sets now lol, or I could put them on my christmas list.

Hope you like the card and thank you for looking. Any comments very welcome.

Sketch Saturday Challenge Card - #25

I have finally got to make a card this weekend hoorah!! My two nieces have been staying so haven't had time before but managed to get one done this evening, might even attempt another.

I decided to enter the Sketch Saturday Challenge this week, something I have never attempted before but the sketch looks great.

The image is by Whiff of Joy - Lizzie with Muff
I coloured the image using Letraset Promarkers ( I love these!!)
The papers are Winter Wonderland by Dovecraft
I also used some Bazill Bling card for the matting
Buttons from my stash.

I added my usual trademark glitter to a couple of parts of the image (I don't know what I am going to do when Christmas is over lol).

There are some great cards that have been entered into this challenge, I think I may become a regular at entering some of these challenges if I get the time to make the card needed.

Hope you like the card.

2nd Birthday

I finally made a card this week, well there is one other one but I can't load it up yet because it is for a fellow Docrafter who may well visit this blog and I don't want her to see it before she actually receives it.

As for this card, a girl who works with me asked me to make this card for her nephew, Jude, who will be 2 next week. She didn't really give me a brief so I decided to use some Cuddly Buddly images and alphabet. It also gave me a chance to use my new nestabilities which arrived just yesterday - I am loving them. I hope both she and Jude like the card, I think it is ok but always think I can do better.

I hope to get another couple of cards made at the weekend, I have just received two new Tilda stamps and have been busy colouring the images in the evenings and can't wait to get them onto cards. I have a craft order sitting at the Post Office ready for me to collect but I can't get there until Saturday, I have ordered some lovely bits and pieces from Crafts U Love and I can't wait to get my hands on them.

Please visit Janet's site, Pink Gem Designs, and have a look at her new lovely stamps. I have a few of Janet's stamps already and must say that they are great quality and stamp very clearly and are lovely to colour. You'll kick yourself if you miss out, you have been warned lol!! Sorry forgot to mention.....there is candy on offer!!

Sunday, 9 November 2008

I've been thinking about getting a "handmade by" stamp for ages and now I have seen lots of other people with them it has spurred me on to sort something out. I ordered my stamp off E-bay last night and this is what it is going to look like. I think it's lovely.

I've been Tagged

Woohoo, this is a first for me, Michele over at Shelley's Papercrafting Paradise has not only given me an award (see below) but she has also tagged me, thanks Michele. I had to answer sets of 5 questions, so here goes:

THINGS I LOVE
  1. My family (of course).
  2. My pets. I have a rabbit called Honey, two guinea pigs, one called Buttercup and one called Robbie and I also have a gerbil who I have just adopted called Bob. (I am a total animal lover).
  3. I absolutely lurve shopping for craft stuff, i'm not that fussy, any craft stuff lol.
  4. I love Nike Trainers, I wear trainers most of time except for work (they're not allowed in the office).
  5. Junk Food. (Why can't I love healthy food?)

THINGS I DON'T LOVE

  1. Cruelty to animals.
  2. Dishonest people.
  3. I hate fruit (I don't eat any fruit, a strawberry at a push if it is covered in sugar).
  4. Alcohol. (I did all that when I was younger and now I don't feel the need...strange aren't I lol).
  5. Spiders....urrgghh!!

MUSIC ON MY iPOD

  1. Jordin Sparks.
  2. Nick Lachey.
  3. Take That (cheesy eh!)
  4. Leona Lewis.
  5. Sugababes.

FAVE FOOD AND DRINK

  1. Chinese Food.
  2. My mum's Potato Salad...yum.
  3. Ice cream - especially Hagen Daaz (spelling?)
  4. Tea....I get through so many cups a day at work.
  5. Mango Juice. (Strange considering I don't like fruit).

Now I have to tag 5 other people, link to their blog and let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

This is the really difficult part. As I haven't been doing this long I don't know lots of people yet so I am sorry if you've already been tagged, ignore it if you like but I have to do this. Soooo, I am picking:

Janet, Alex, Natalie, Eve and Denise.

Enjoy!!

November Swap

Hello again, just popping on to add another wallet card that I finished this evening. This is going to a fellow crafter from the Docrafts message boards who I have been teamed up with this month for a swap. I might also be enclosing a few goodies with the card lol.

I have used another of my new stamps by Panduro which I absolutely adore, I love the images as they are so cute and so much fun. I coloured the image again using my Promarkers which I am absolutely loving, I can't wait to get some more colours at Christmas, they are on my list along with many other crafting items I must have lol!

The papers I have used are by Basic Grey called "Sugared", I love the colours. I have also added a Prima flower secured with a brad. I even tried some faux stitching around the image, not something I have done much before but I do like the effect...is it ok? Now I just need to get the goodies together and post off tomorrow morning.

That's all from me today, hope to be posting again shortly if I get time to make some more cards this week.

Hope you are all well.

Thinking of You

I couldn't resist this stamp when I saw it in my local craft shop yesterday although there was a large selection to choose from. It is called Thinking of You and is by Penny Black. I also decided to use my new Papermania papers from the Naughty and Nice Christmas paper pack, I just love these colours. I coloured the image again using my new Promarkers, the snowflakes are Cuttlebug dies that I have. I also added glitter and stickles to the snowflakes and then popped on a peel off sentiment. Let me know what you think and thank you for looking.

Whiff of Joy Christmas

I really love Whiff of Joy stamps, I have seen some lovely cards with these images in the Docrafts gallery and so had to go and buy a couple. All I seem to be doing recently is buying Christmas stamps so I have just ordered two Whiff of Joy stamps which are not Christmas related. I coloured the image using Promarkers, used holographic glitter for the tinsel on the tree and add glitter to the baubles and the star on top of the tree. I then added Glossy Accents to the baubles to give them a bit of definition, I don't think this comes across very well in the picture. I can't remember the name of the paper I used. I also added a couple of peel offs and green ribbon from my stash. I hope you like the card, please let me know what you think and thanks for looking.

A Halloween Birthday

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days, I have been suffering with a terrible cough for three weeks now and I am at my wits end with it, I've had enough of feeling ill now and just want to feel normal again. Anyway, my niece Shannon, is going to be 13 on 31 October and I wanted to make her a special card for her birthday. I knew that she would like money for her birthday so in the end I decided on making her a wallet card. I really couldn't decide on how to decorate the card until I found some Forever Friends stamps in my local craft store. They are lovely stamps and so decided to buy a FF stamp and some FF papers to go with it. As it will be Halloween I also decided to decorate the back of the card with a Halloween theme. The image I have used is designed by Janet Roberts who designs for Spiral Whisper. I love this image, it is so cute. The images are coloured with Promarkers which I am still practicing with really, I only bought them 3 days ago and I am still trying to get the hang of them, a lot more practice is required I think lol, I might be calling on some fellow bloggers for tips. I have been holding off posting these pictures as I didn't want Shannon to visit the site and see her card but I think it is safe now, she'll be tucked up in bed now and will be wanting to open her cards and presents first thing in the morning. I really hope she likes the card. Thanks for looking and I hope you like the card also. I will try and post a bit more often, I hope to make a few more cards over the weekend.

Take care and Happy Halloween!!

Panduro Christmas

I recently received a Panduro image in a recent image swap and fell in love with the stamps. Of course I then had to go and buy two sheets of the stamps one of which was christmas stamps. I loved this image so decided to run up a quickie card. Instead of using my usual brush markers to watercolour I used Twinkling H20's, I have had these for ages and not really used them so rather than waste them I thought why not have a go. The papers I used are from DCWV Rose Tinted Christmas, some white glitter paper, ribbon, peel off sentiment and the brad is also DCWV Rose Tinted Christmas. I hope you like it.

My First Award

Woohoo, the lovely Erin has given me an award and it is my first one, I am so happy. I am full of cough/cold at the moment and generally feel rotten but this award has lifted my spirits. Thank you very much Erin.
Its purpose is to send love to and acknowledge women who brighten your day, teach you new things and live their lives fully with generosity and joy - Anyway, it does have rules attached which are:
  1. You can give it to one or one hundred or any number in between;
  2. Make sure you link to their site;

  3. Link back to Tammy at http://tammyvitale.typepad.com/ so that she can visit all these great women;
  4. Remember the purpose of the award.

Now comes the difficult part, I know most of the blogs I visit have probably already received this award but hey ho you're probably going to get it again lol as well as a few who haven't so here goes, you're blogs are great and a great inspiration to me and I think you deserve this award:-

Wedding Card

I was asked by a friend at work to make a wedding card which she will be taking to Texas with her at the end of the month. It is for a lady she is friends with in Texas who is getting married to a guy who is on Death Row. My work colleague said that a romantic, soppy card would be suitable as she knew this was what her friend would like. I had a bit of difficulty finding a verse that would be suitable, most verses tend to say about spending your life together or always being together which obviously isn't the case. I posted my dilemma on the Docraft website and a fellow crafter penned a verse which she posted on the Verse section called "Love". It seemed to suit the occasion so I have used that in the card. I hope my friend and the bride and groom like it.

My first Forever Friends Christmas Card

I cheated on this I am afraid, these are stickers that I bought from Hobbycraft rather than a stamped image. I have seen all of the Forever Friends cards people seem to be making recently and fell in love with them. I am now on the lookout for some of their stamps needless to say lol. I hope you like it.
